In this post, we spotlight Humble Design, a national nonprofit that furnishes homes for those emerging from homelessness — a feat only Humble Design can accomplish. The Welcome Home event is their single biggest fundraising effort every year and is responsible for changing thousands of people’s lives per year — but they can only do it with support from donors like you.

For families emerging from homelessness, a house isn’t a full solution. Without a bed, kitchen supplies, and even the most basic comforts inside, up to 50% of families return to homelessness within a year.

That’s where Humble Design comes in, ending the revolving door of homelessness by fully furnishing and decorating homes with donated goods. Since 2009, they’ve furnished more than 2400 homes across 5 major US cities, creating homes where families can find peace, strength, and hope. With Humble Design’s help, less than 1% return to homelessness.

Design B&B had the opportunity to work with Humble Design for their brand refresh in 2018, and in 2021 we had the pleasure of partnering with the organization to plan their Welcome Home fundraiser. Held on the Meadow rooftop of Chicago’s famed Old Post Office — the city’s largest urban rooftop oasis — the night featured music, food, and inspirational stories of Humble Design’s impact. By the end of the night, $113,000 was raised for Chicago families in need. We created the event’s brand identity, marketing materials, signage, and even hand-crafted auction items.

We were honored to play a small part in Humble Design’s mission, and are grateful to be able to support an organization that does so much for our city.
